ABCs Series, Monstrous Mound of Magnificent Ms

Warning: tremendoud amount of songs for the letter M. But what can I say? It's my favorite letter, and it had a ton of great songs. Sue me or something.

Josh Groban - Machine

Hi, he's Josh Groban. Part of me melts whenever he sings. I just...like this song. I like the empowering-ish message of it.

Faster
AC Newman - Miracle Drug
(Right-click and Save)

AC Newman is pretty awesome. I've discovered and loved three of his songs so far. This is one of them. It's totally great for rocking out in the car, or wherever. Actually, this is a better walking song. -nod-

Relient K - Mood Rings
(Right-click and Save)

Dude, if you haven't ever had some Relient K thrust upon you, you're missing out. This song, in particular, is freaking awesome. "We all know the girls that I am talking about. They are time bombs, and they are ticking, and the only question is when they'll blow up..." Like I said, freaking awesome. I just love love love this song. -grin-

Faster
From Singing In The Rain: Donald O'Connor and Gene Kelly - Moses

I could (and have) listen(ed) to this song endlessly. It just makes me so happy and wishing I was in this movie, etc. I LOVE the lyrics of it. Moses supposes his toses are roses, but Moses supposes erroneously...

The All-American Rejects - Move Along
(Right-click and Save)

I can't describe quite why I love this song. I know that I love the guitar riffs that AAR employs. It's one of those songs that is fabulous for rocking out. It also just has very nice relationship togetherness lyrics. "Your hands are mine to hold." And, no, I don't secretly have this song attached to any ship.

The Perishers - My Heart (Live)

I found out about The Perishers from The OC, and then I actually got the fabulous chance to see them live when they opened for Aqualung in fall of 2005. They put on such a great show, and I love this song. They've got such a great live energy.

>>

The original version of this song that I actually didn't even have until tonight.

Snow Patrol - Make This Go On Forever

Sometimes there is no real way to explain why an SP song is good. They just... sometimes are, and you can't say why. I think it's their use of piano and like...full multi-part vocals in this song.

Slower
Wilco - Muzzle of Bees
(Right-click and Save)

I love the different movements of this song. Actually, when/if I write a screenplay, I have a particular scene in my head for the opening, and this song is the soundtrack to that. It's morning, and someone is getting ready for work/to get on a plane, and then the opening credits sort of roll, and the setting changes to another city where the other main character is. -nod-

Instrumental
From The Count of Monte Cristo: Ed Shearmur - Marseille

Another amazing orchestral suite from this movie. It's featured over things that happen at the very beginning of this film (which has been one of my favorites for years). There is emotion and/or mystery in every note of this song, which is one of the reasons why this score is so amazing.

Artist
Moby - Porcelain
(Right-click and Save)

From his page on Wikipedia:
Moby (born Richard Melville Hall on September 11, 1963, in Harlem, New York, and raised in Darien, Connecticut) is an American songwriter, musician and singer. Moby also serves as the name of his live band.
After some limited success in the 1990s with techno music, his biggest success was his more mainstream album Play, released in 1999, which sold 10 million copies worldwide. He continues to record and release music today.
Moby plays keyboard, guitar, bass guitar and drums. He took his nickname from the novel Moby-Dick, which was written by Herman Melville, his great-great grand uncle. He has also released music under the names Voodoo Child, Barracuda, UHF, The Brotherhood, DJ Cake, Lopez, and Mindstorm. He has received a lot of attention for his political, environmental and religious beliefs.

This song is one that is so melodic and blends so well, even though it's 'techno'. It's the sort of song I would listen to in the shower, when getting ready to take an afternoon nap, on a road trip, making something crafty, etc...
